Pharmacy Technician Course Sequence

THE PHARMACY TECHNICIAN PROGRAM AT WENDELL-KRINN IS DESIGNED TO TEACH AND PREPARE STUDENTS TO GO DIRECTLY INTO THE WORKFORCE UPON GRADUATION. IT IS A FOUR YEAR PROGRAM.

STUDENTS LEARN EVERYTHING NEEDED TO BE FULLY TRAINED AND EDUCATED FOR RETAIL, HOSPITAL, AND COMPOUNDING PHARMACY. STUDENTS SPEND TIME IN THE CLASSROOM GETTING THE KNOWLEDGE NEEDED TO PREPARE THEM FOR A CAREER IN PHARMACY FIRST, THEN THEY ARE ABLE TO PUT THOSE SKILLS INTO PRACTICE IN OUR “PHARMACY” WHICH IS SET UP EXACTLY LIKE A REAL WORKING RETAIL AND HOSPITAL PHARMACY.

ON THE RETAIL SIDE, STUDENTS LEARN EVERYTHING FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS, DATA ENTRY, INSURANCE BILLING, INVENTORY MANAGEMENT, NARCOTIC REGULATION, PHARMACY LAWS AND MUCH MORE.

FOR HOSPITAL PHARMACY, STUDENTS LEARN STERILE COMPOUNDING WHERE THEY LEARN THE CORRECT TECHNIQUE FOR PREPARING IV MEDICATIONS, MEDICATION RECONCILIATION, MEDICATION DISPENSING AND MUCH MORE.

STUDENTS ALSO LEARN NON-STERILE COMPOUNDING WHICH IS WHERE THEY PREPARE MEDICATIONS SUCH AS CREAMS, OINTMENTS, LIQUIDS AND MORE.

OUR PHARMACY TECHNICIAN PROGRAM IS RECOGNIZED BY THE PHARMACY TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATION BOARD (PTCB) WHICH IS A NATIONAL CERTIFICATION. THIS CERTIFICATION WILL ALLOW THEM TO WORK AS A PHARMACY TECHNICIAN ANYWHERE IN THE US.  WE ARE ALSO APPROVED BY THE STATE OF FLORIDA AS AN APPROVED PHARMACY TECHNICIAN TRAINING PROGRAM. THIS MEANS THAT UPON COMPLETION AND GRADUATION, STUDENTS WILL BE NATIONALLY CERTIFIED AND REGISTERED WITH THE STATE OF FLORIDA, FULLY TRAINED AND PREPARED TO BEGIN THEIR CAREER AS A PHARMACY TECHNICIAN.
